VBS Volunteers

Over the last 6 years, VBS at FBC Starkville has grown to see over 300 kids throughout the week. In order for us to meet the physical and spiritual needs of each child and ensure we are creating an incredible, Christ-filled experience, we need over 100 volunteers to serve with us. Would you consider serving with us during the week of June3-7?

Thank you for your support of the Preschool and Children’s Ministries at FBC Starkville. We can’t wait to serve with you during VBS!

What Previous Volunteers Are Saying:

"VBS 2018 was my first year to serve “outside” the classroom. Although I picked snack worker as my preferred spot, I was worried I would not have an impact on children’s lives. Wrong! God can show up wherever he wants. Sitting by the new kid who hasn’t made many friends yet, having a caring conversation with a child who feels “different” because they need an allergy-free snack, or sharing a hug with my girls’ friends as if they were my own. It was a week that blessed my summer. God used my need for a break from the classroom to love children, and that is what VBS is all about."

- Erin Hammett

"VBS is one of my favorite things we do here at FBC! It is so much more than a week of crafts, games, and Bible verses. It is a week to invest in the lives of young souls and to fill them with the love of Christ."

- Holly Fron

"I helped with VBS when my sons were young, and now I'm helping with my grandchildren's classes! It is such a blessing to me to be able to help with their classes and warms my heart that they want me to help out each year!"

- Elisa Fuller

"I volunteered last summer for VBS. I was one of the ones who coordinated snacks for the different classes coming through at their designated snack time. I enjoyed this because I got to see kids that I hadn’t seen in a long time and I saw how much they’d grown."

- Ann Rush

"Even with all the work to prepare for each day, I think I enjoyed it as much as the kids did! My summer isn’t complete without VBS!"

- Cassandra Hiltpold

Youth Mission First

This will be our 5th consecutive summer to spend a week serving at Mission First in Jackson, MS. In the mornings, we’ll be working outdoors. It’s likely that we’ll mow some yards, work in a garden, paint a home or something else along those lines. In the afternoons, we’ll be working with their summer camp for elementary kids. We’ll be leading games, Bible studies, crafts, etc. At night we’ll go out to eat and have a fun activity. The $150 covers all meals and activities for the week.

This event typically sells out well in advance so don’t delay in registering your teen.

to Jan 20

Disciple Now

Cost: $40

No refunds will be available after December 10 as t-shirts and other supplies must be ordered at that point.

What happens at Disciple Now? Disciple Now is our biggest annual event for teenagers. Teens are divided by grade and gender and stay in host homes on Friday and Saturday nights. Each group has two university leaders who lead the small group Bible studies. We also have worship services that will be held at State’s BSU. Sam Collier will be our speaker, and a band will lead worship. Teens spend Saturday afternoon serving our community. Disciple Now concludes with our church’s 11:00 worship service on Sunday morning.

About a week prior to DNow parents of registered teens will receive a what to bring list.

If your teen can't stay the entire weekend (needs to arrive late due to a ballgame on Friday night or has a game on Saturday morning & will need to leave & come back), please list that info when you register your teen.
