Date Night Ideas
Looking for some ideas for your next date night? Here are some suggestions from church members that range from free to not so free and can be enjoyed in Starkville and out of town.
1 - Dinner In
If you can get the house to yourself: have a multi-course meal ready for the spouse - might be take out from a nice restaurant or cooked by a chef friend or made yourself. Fix up an unusual place in the house or patio for a romantic dinner with tablecloth and candles. Bonus points if the meal is thematic or a romantic reminder of a past date or anniversary.
2 - Game Night
After enjoying your Dinner In above, pull out a board game, card game, or puzzle for 2 players that you have gathering dust in your closet. Some great games to keep on hand are Suspicion, Pandemic, Dutch Blitz, Escape Room the Game, Phase 10, or anything else that sparks your interest on Amazon.
3 - MSU Sporting Event
In Starkville, our calendar is driven by MSU sports. Take advantage of that at an upcoming basketball, baseball or softball game. There might not be a better sporting event than baseball/softball to carry on a conversation. Plus softball games are free!
4 - Break from Routine
A Saturday afternoon picnic on the Drill Field, at Chadwick Lake or at the Refuge can be a much-needed change of pace from your routine.
5 - Pack Your Bags
Greenwood: Stay at the Alluvian or just go for the day and take a class at the cooking school.
Clarksdale: Make a visit to the home of the blues! With great accommodations at the Shack Up Inn and Lofts at the Five & Dime. And even better restaurants like Yazoo Pass, Abe’s, and Stone Pony Pizza. You'll want to make a trip to Clarksdale. Be sure to check the website, Cathead.biz, to see the upcoming music calendar.
Birmingham: Do a 1 or 2 night getaway to Ross Bridge Resort.
Nashville: You can't go wrong with the rich musical history found in the Country Music Capital, professional sporting events, or unique food spots. Find a fun Airbnb, catch a Predators hockey game, and book an Escape Game experience for a memorable weekend!
