At the end of the summer, Robin Farr and her husband, Steve, packed up their house and said goodbye to Newnan, GA. They left the town they had called home for the last seventeen years and headed down to Starkville, where Robin would begin her new role as the Director of the Creative Learning Center (CLC) here at First Baptist. Robin was beyond excited to get started on this new chapter.

Robin and Steve have been married for twenty-seven years, and they have three children together: their son Haden, 25, and two daughters, Madison, 23, and Catelyn, 21. The love for her children and the time she spent with them as preschoolers helped lead Robin into working and serving in childcare ministries.

"I want all children that I have been entrusted to care for and their families to know they are special," says Robin, "and [that] God has a plan for each of them and loves them very much."

While preschool and daycare ministries are an ever-changing environment, Robin's approach to running the CLC is very simple: she aims to treat all children as if they were her own and show kindness and compassion to the staff and families that she serves. She also says that she wants to make sure that every time a child and their family enters the CLC, that they are given "the opportunity to see and hear God's love for them daily."

Having served in childcare ministry for the last fifteen years, Robin says God has taught her a few things about working in a preschool environment. She has learned not only about being flexible and having a teachable spirit that seeks out the wisdom of others, but also to trust God in all things, even with the ways He uses her gifts.

Robin has also found that she has two favorite activities to do with the children she cares for. "I love spending time asking them random questions and then listening to their responses," she says, "you can learn so much!" Her other favorite activity is spending time with them during art; the messier, the better.

Overall, Robin says it is a privilege to support families and preschoolers and encourage each child's development and spiritual growth. "I am excited about the opportunities to serve," Robin says, "and to see how God will use me and this ministry to be a lighthouse in our community."
