First Word January 2020
This month, we’re going to talk about a delicate topic. I hope that this discussion will be educational, compassionate, and most of all, loving. First, you’ll read a painful story about abortion, one that we’ve taken the time to tell carefully. You’ll also read about the Starkville Pregnancy Care Center and the local resources available for pregnant women and young moms. I hope that there is one point that we can bring to the surface: to love others is our most important commandment. Organizations like our local Starkville Pregnancy Care Center don’t merely focus on education; they are supporting, empowering, and loving women in our community. As Paul closed his first letter to the Corinthians, he said it like this: “If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” I hope that as you read the heartfelt account that follows, you’ll be inspired to rise above the noise and love those in need around you extravagantly.
