Prayers of the Saints

Encouragement for teachers from some of the older members of our church family, curated by Mary Todd Gordon.

While assisted living communities may still be on lockdown, we know that the prayers of our senior members extend far beyond their four walls. Many of our senior members have been following Christ for an incredibly long time. They have spent countless hours in prayer over their lifetime, but I imagine some of the most intimate prayer time they have has been over the last 5 months. Teachers, when you are struggling, consider reading these words from these wise individuals. They may not be able to go to battle with you physically, but they are going to battle for you in prayer.

There are probably going to be times when you wonder if you can keep going and if you can wear your face mask one more day. You can and you will! Allow Christ to make Himself more present in your life than ever before. You weren’t meant to fight and struggle alone. I have been studying the book of Philippians and Paul’s suffering for the Gospel. He says in Philippians 2:14-18, “Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.”

Hold firmly to the Word of Life, teachers. This is our temporary home and this is just a brief struggle that will soon pass. You are so loved!
